Embarrassing little sister.

Contributed by deathdrop on Sunday, 9th March 2008 @ 02:26:29 AM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

You wanted to take your hard core drugs.
It didn’t matter I was in the room.
I was only 15 the first time it happened.
It didn’t matter I was in front of you.

You wanted to snort and you wanted to drink.
With your hard core friends that are mean.
You wanted to talk about fights to make yourself cool.
You wanted to swallow your pills that weren’t clean.

You wanted me involved.
You wanted me there.
I was 16.
When someone almost died in front of me.
... But you didn’t care!

You said there’s no harm in using.
No harm at all.
Looking back now,
I guess you thought you were so cool!

You wanted me involved.
So you gave me some drugs.
You didn’t care.
I wasn’t old enough.
I took some stuff,
But you wanted me to take more.
I felt so pressured,
Remembering that guy on the floor.
But I hadn’t taken as much as him,
So I guess I couldn’t see the harm...

My heart rate zoomed up.
Like my chest would explode.
I couldn’t breathe.
People’s eyes were cold.

My body went numb.
And the room went blurred.
I fell to the ground.
And then sounds dispersed.

I was dangerously ill.
You were annoyed.
But it wasn’t because.
I almost died.

It was because you looked bad,
In front of your friends.
You didn’t care about me.
But you never did.

thank you for sharing such an intimate glimpse. I must emphasize the relative balance of accountability to blame. at any tender age, we may be impressionable but at the same time why participate in something you already clearly have such a negative message about & a distinct distaste for. many times, in life we are confronted with exactly what we do not want to be. peace. elle.

It's sad that you had such a negative experience with drugs. There are good drugs out there, just so you know. Abuse is negative in any form, not just with drugs.

this is graphic! Its a great poem Rosie.. Great illustration of something that was the cause of a lot of the pain in your life!

Sweetie you have an amazing talent wrapped up in your brain and the wrongs in your life has obviously been the inspiration for such. Dont ever stop writing! I hope we can reconnect soon!
