Indulgent excess wears its guise;
The joker's face, the veiled tear
The mistress wears her shroud and mourns
The death of abstract meaning
The birth of fear
Pursuit of parasitic paradox
She grieves and hovers, wanton ghost
Dictating purposes to a reality
Void of grip, rotating
In a mass of gluttony, lost
Bewildered by the preacher in my ear
And in my eye, grinning temptation
The black widowed concubine stares
The spinning world polarizes
...I dream of starvation
Hunger... its paranoid price
Victim to familiar choice
Inevitable indecision
The hypocrite hatches within my head
Enigma has a voice
Judgment seems so vivid
Envious and broken,
I cower in my sacred hole
Clutching at my phantom pride,
Imperious token
Jealous, worn, consumed
The succubus smothers me now
Taunted by absent meaning,
The wait is long, so long
Darkness surrounds me now.

Huh, surprised this has zero comments. Weird. Well it's got one now!
I didn't quite completely understand it but I often enjoy being taunted with the confusion in my brain about reading something because the read is still genuinely good. That last stanza....eerie!!! |
