Emelie

If I had to number how many lives
other women will have to live
until they can steal your beautiful smile,
they will be forever waiting in line.
And if I were asked to paint that smile
I would be inventing a new set of colours,
shinning, fresh and so uncommon colours
and be drawing and painting for years
before seeing the closest match.

Millions of beautiful smiles around the world but
only a few of them can cut like a knife, Emelie.
Millions of girls on the streets every minute but
only a few of them can stop time.
Millions of blue eyes everywhere but
only through a few of them we can see the ocean.
Millions of women to spend an afternoon with but
only a few of them could make a sunset
last for a little bit longer, Emelie.

Your smile refreshes the air
like a never ending waterfall,
your smile shines everything that reaches
and freezes the moment.
Yours is a dangerous smile if you didn’t know it,
and you better be very careful when showing it
It can eventually make someone somewhere
write you a poem.

Dedicated to Emelie Soderstrom
Mauricio. 03/03/2008

a sweet dedication I hope you have showed it to her. She will be happy and then that smile will be even brighter.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
