A Perfect World

Contributed by kiss4roq on Tuesday, 4th March 2008 @ 03:55:30 PM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

I sat on the horse, they waited outside,
Other got on and they started the ride,
Up and down, and around and around,
Music was drowning out all other sounds.

I watched as they watched me,
But I soon couldn't see,
It was spinning too fast,
And I hoped it wouldn't last.

It came to a stop, and I stumbled away,
I was dizzy, sick, and began to sway,
But something had changed; they were all gone,
I walked right outside and it was nearly dawn.

How long had I been spinning,
I barely remember the beginning,
Just then I black out, and fell to the floor,
And woke up somewhere I'd never been before.

The people weren't people, they were only beings,
They possessed no faces with eyes for seeing,
No clothes for warmth and no shoes for protection,
And all the roads went in every direction.

Roads went up, roads went down,
They went diagonally and all around,
They went forward and backward,
And moved far away and toward.

They floated and so did the beings,
And endless floating without any wings,
Round and round they spun in the air,
Running into each other here and there.

Finally off the ground I quickly rose,
Up into the air without any clothes,
My face disappeared, my eyes were gone,
And I understood what was going on.

We were one being, all together we formed,
A being much larger as more of us swarmed,
It was like we were all finally one,
And there was nothing left to be done.

We were all equal in this place,
We had no clothes and no face,
Girls looked like boys, and boys looked like girls,
And we were finally in a perfect world.

I enjoyed the entire poem but the ending stanza was my favorite. A lovely write with a sage message.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
