Daddy

Little girl six years old, her daddy in Iraq.
Mommy ( What honey?) I really miss my daddy is he ever coming back.
Come here my precious angel, climb upon my knee.
Let me tell you about daddy, he's fighting to keep this country free.

Lots of men and women for all across the USA.
They're fighting for our freedom, in a land so far away.
Daddy really loves us and I know he really cares.
That's why we ask God to bless our soldiers, each night when we say our prayers.

There are lots of mommy's and daddy's a long long way from home.
That's why I write all of those letters, so they won't feel so alone.
That's why we have Red Fridays, and signs that say support our troops.
And why your Grandpa gets so mad, when he sees those anti protest groups.

You see your Grandpa fought in Vietnam, he was a soldier too.
He too fought for freedom, the red, the white, the blue.
Many men and women have died trying to keep this Country free.
And now it's your daddy's turn to be all that he can be.

Tonight we'll kneel down to pray, and we'll ask the Lord above.
Please protect our soldiers, surround them with your love.
Now it's your turn honey, is there something that you'd like to say.
Tell my daddy that I love and miss him more and more each day.

Written for every man and women in Uniform ( Past or Present) May God bless and keep you safe and may you return home soon.
I am a Vietnam Veteran and I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to each and everyone of you.
ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
