I never hated you

Contributed by desolantdreamer on Thursday, 28th February 2008 @ 03:41:45 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Did you ever realize what you've done to me
I don't think I even knew how you'd affect me
Holding on to the past, I fought with myself
"It would end painfully, I would be broken again"
I told myself over and over again
As if those words would make the feeling go away
But looking back now, I chuckle at my foolishness
You can't stop loving someone, and can't choose who you love
A sad fact I've lived first hand
You're sitting next to me, looking down at your hands
I know what's coming, I can see it in your face
Smiling sadly up at you, I nod my head in solumn understanding
My heart had long since broken in two
Way back when I saw him you with her, so long ago
A secret crush, I hoped, I wanted to believe
That you'd get over it soon enough
But wanting and hoping never saved the world
And it sure never solved any problems
I hope you're happy living with her
And I don't hate you
When you walked out of the door, to find her waiting in the truck
I take one last fleeting glance at you
And shut the door softly, empty inside
"I don't hate you" I whisper as the tears come
I cock the gun and smile, watching you out the window
Smiling at her in the truck, pulling out of my drive
"I never hated you"
bang

You have a wonderful discriptive way of writing enabling me to live inside the moment. Well done.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
