would you cry if i died tomorrow?

Contributed by LadyDama on Tuesday, 11th March 2003 @ 03:40:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

would you cry if i died tomorrow?
would your life be filled with sorrow?

if you never saw me again
would you cease writing with your pen?

if i could no longer bear this life
would you think of me with strife?

if i just couldn't take another day
would you hate me and just run away?

if my pain was too much to swallow
would you forget my lessons to follow?

if my dreams came crashing down
would you pull away from me and frown?

if i left you with all of my mess
would you end up like me: depressed?

well, let me tell you
this you may do
but you won't get a chance
i didn't die before you

i'm the one left with this sorrow
and you are not here
no shoulder to borrow...

Wow! so many sad thoughts, nobody can tell what happens tomorrow, but sure all will have to leave their earthly bodies oneday or other. I think these feelings are quite temporary. venkat

Just a short observation before my comment:
People tend to flock towards the poetry about death. I think this is due to the mystery that surrounds the events afterwards, and others want to see if there is light shed on the matter.

That having been said, this is a good poem. I enjoyed how the questioning of such a topic as this turned out to be in vain, not to say that I take pleasure in what would seem to be futile actions superficially, but it was a good, intelligent turn in the poem's focus. Good job.
