Coach Solomon's "Game Of Life"

Shake it off son!
You getcher game face on!
Don’chew show ‘em no fear!
You cain’t show ‘em no pain!
It’s Game Day!

Every day is game day coach.

How rightchew are, yessir!
How rightchew are!
Now git on out there
An show ‘em whatchew got…

Whoa, hold up! Wait a minute!
Whassat cher doin?
You tearin’ up on me?
You goin’ all weepy eyed, boy?
To quote the legendary Tom Hanks…
“There ain’t no crying in baseball!”

But this isn’t baseball, coach.
In fact… this doesn’t even really
Seem like much of a game at all.

Oh, now you got it wrong there, son!
Yep, ‘atzright, cha got it all wrong!
This here, wull… it’s tha greatest
game there is! It’s The Game Of Life!
And Life, whelp, I tell ya sure’s spit,
Life don’t take no prisoners!

No… no, I suppose she doesn’t.
But, she does seem to make them,
Then she does all she can to break them.

Aw, now donchew fret none over that.
You jus’ take yerself a moment or two.
Then gitcherself up, pat cherself down…
An walkit off, boy. We’ll getcha back
Out there in no time, no time at all.

Sorry Coach…
I’m afraid no amount of time
Is ever going to shake this,
And walking won’t get me anywhere…
At least not anywhere near
To where I need to go.

Don’t worry though.
I found my Game Face.
I got it on again, Coach.

(look at me)

Send me back in…

Scott,
I enjoyed the entire write and the style in which you wrote it. You took me along on a journey here. Made me smile.

You keep that game face my friend and away you go!!
No need to run or slide into base either....... it is all right there with you. *winks*

Hugs

Michelle

Nazzy,
I like how this is light-hearted and the coach's stanzas are nearly comical in parts, but once you're done reading it you can't help but apply it to your own life and realize the depth within it. I think what you've mastered here is how to speak to any reader and that takes talent. Nicely done.

Love and peace,

Chels
