Best Friend

There are many different kinds of friends.
Friends who live so far away, that you can’t talk everyday.
Friends on the computer, you talk but never meet.
Friends on teams, you only see for awhile.
Then the seasons over.
Friends at lunch and recess.
Friends that come and go.
They’re like minerals in Earth.
Bountiful and plenty, many different kinds.
But only one kind is the diamond, the ruby, or the crystal.
Your best friend. A sister.
Someone you can trust, with anything at all.
Someone you respect and take opinions from.
You can talk for hours about nothing at all.
Your own special memories, inside jokes no one else understands.
An instant partner.
You cooperate when no one else can.
You might be different; you don’t have to be exactly alike.
But she takes you for you and you take her for her.
Even with all of the flaws.
You go through life.
Together it’s more of an adventure.
But then the day comes.
You have to part.
Weather you leave or just grow apart you know you’ll still be friends.
Because through good times and bad.
Through this and that.
You’ve stayed by each others side.
So, hundred, thousand, or a million miles apart.
You’ll still be friends.
In each others hearts.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
