When I eventually go

When I eventually go
and become a mass
of unwanted bone and flesh
what of me will be left?
A desk, a drill, a jar,
a car, a camera, an unstrung guitar,
a set of screws, a musty suit,
a television, a trombone,
a tube of glue,
a grease stained vest.
Some photographs
As proof of who I was
at certain times
on certain days.
A collection of disks,
Some which gathered dust,
others that had been played.
A mound of materials;
nylons, cottons, wool-mixes, acrylics,
some unworn, others frayed.
A stack of films,
Most of which were watched,
others forgot.
Books that fill several shelves;
A few that made an impression
but mostly not
Just a jumble of words
punctuated with commas,
question marks
and full stops.

I love the concept of your piece. A question pondered by more than a few, methinks.
But I would hope that when you are gone, (as when any of us leaves) that the material
possessions you left will pale in meaning, compared to the impressions on others and the
memories you gifted them with are. Interesting write ..more interesting is your ending.
Almost a parallel to the actual thought really ..
great work.

Enjoyed the poem very much - dramatic monologues are nearly always compelling, especially on a subject close to everyones heart.
It's interesting that your 'remnants' are all items, things. Hopefully there will be more left by all of us (memories, feelings, an impression in people's lives), but having cleared out houses of deceased people, the physical debris is the most impactful.
