Standing in Wind

Contributed by zenith66 on Saturday, 23rd February 2008 @ 06:36:24 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

What says the wind that whispers still,
Between these trees that dot the hills,
With words that don’t resemble ours
Spoken softly or with power,

Whose voluminous body flies,
In wintry gusts mid evening skies,
Driving clouds from height to height
Tilting stubborn trees toward the light,

Shifting titian seas in waves,
And bunkers men indoors for days,
Or carry with the softest ease,
Downy flake from frosty tree,

Awaken Earth from out its rest,
And usher in forgetfulness
Mingle with the conscious seams,
But do not end this morning dream

It’s mournful howl beats fervently
Between this sleepy world and me,
Where voices rarely break the hum
Of rolling clouds in unison...

Ah yes, from soft zephyr to hurricane, from verse to stanza, just magic.

'usher in forgetfulness' - great phrasing.

zenith, this is GORGEOUS! (really and truly one of your best!)

To be in awe of the wind, be it gusty gales or beautiful breezes ... this is poetry without
words. But to actually capture the emotions and feelings of such awe .. that takes true
talent. I absolutely adore the first stanza; how you introduce your subject with
amazing poetic prowess and then go on to describe the many facets of it. Damn
fine writing, my friend. The third stanza was brilliant!

Whatever your future pursuits, NEVER put down your pen. So much would be lost ..

take care -

~Breezy

After reading through quite a few, I feel this is your finest write ... the rhythm and rhyme, the flow is perfect. I especially love your last line "of rolling clouds in unison". Thanks for steering me this way, you write beautiful poetry. Jan
