Melissa Jane And Baby Jade

Contributed by Fwog on Tuesday, 11th March 2003 @ 12:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Within these chapel walls so gray
I fare welled two children today
The Chaplin offered up their souls
To the heavenly kingdom made of gold.

Melissa Jane now rests in peace
A victim of the heroin beast
Not another mourner could be seen
For this sweet child of seventeen.

The back alleys of Perth she roamed
Train stations and parks were her home
This child nobody seemed to know
Never got the chance to shine and glow.

Molested from an early age
She roamed this world filled with rage
But to street kids much younger than she
A mother figure she came to be.

Like a little mother doting hen
She fought their battles, protected them
She'd tell them always walk with pride
Remember I'm always at your side.

But there was no one there for her
When slinking like a mangy cur
Deaths dealer came to seek her out
Come home with me I'll help you out.

And once he'd had his lustful way
He spat her out, chased her away
It wasn't long before she knew
Within her womb life stirred anew.

So searching for a remedy
With heavy heart she came to me
I'm running out of space and time
What will happen to this child of mine.

There's no real options she declared
I'm catholic , so best get prepared
But fate stepped in and played it's hand
Deaths dealer called with the final plan.

And so I said farewell today
To Melissa Jane and unborn Jade
Within my heart their spirit sleeps
Mine to treasure and to keep.

Oh Dallas, I'm so sorry ... you have a huge heart and it keeps getting broken. This story I'm sure happens over and over ... and if it wasn't for people like you it would probably happen much more often. This is a great poem ... take care.... Jan

Any poem written as deeply from the heart as this is obviously been, deserves the very best praise. You are gifted in so many ways...your a LEGEND!

If you have made just a tiny difference in another's life, you have done a marvelous job. Fwog, as a fellow poet, and human I bow to thee.

Dallas, there are no real words of comfort, only to know she is now at peace, and her little trooper too, hang in there and keep doing your works, you were called for a reason, God knows the soul you carry, and its "One beautiful soul", hugs and love, Val

This brought tears to my eyes. It was very deep, very emotional. Thank you for writing this beautiful piece of work.
