Can't Hold Onto the Wind

Contributed by NoSaint on Thursday, 21st February 2008 @ 11:00:27 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

Sometimes the soul wants to hold tight
The spirit that must run free
Often the heart ends up broken
For the end it does not see

(Refrain)
You can’t hold onto the wind
The Ocean will pour to the sand
Through your clenched fist
It will flow back to the land

We think we know intentions
But we are never truly sure
Were they as evil as they seem
Or were their thoughts really pure

Maybe it was not us
The reason they chose to flee
For you can’t hold onto the wind
And some spirits just must run free

(Refrain)

This story is as old as time
Some just can’t settle down
Unfortunately they leave behind
Those who in their tears drown

Worried they fuss and fret
Is their love or friend all right?
Many a person suffers this way
It seems a universal plight

(Refrain)

I say pray for them and let go
They will return if it is meant to be
Move on with your life and live with joy
And let your own spirit run free
