Whenever you are near
I try to go nearer
But found you slipping even further
I try to grab hold of you
Couldn’t catch up with your pace
Loving a person takes a moment
Knowing a person takes forever
I did not have the chance
To love or to know you
Maybe I was not meant to
And so I leave
Not with a heavy heart
But with a willing and hopeful heart
You’ll be happy and blessed
Each and everyday

This is such a heartfelt write. If only does not come into it, just a quiet realisation that some things were not meant to be. I understand it very well. Well done you have captured how I feel at this very moment. Sue x
