Sorry Came Too Late

Sorry is perhaps the hardest word to say,
Easier to turn on heel, and walk, or run, away,
Yet you, eyes filled with tears, gave that to me,
No closer to understanding, but a step towards accepting.
And, standing here, I find my mind wandering towards different times,
The way things could have been, glimpses into a different reality.
Not meant to be.
Don’t regret; life leads you, and you follow,
Blind to the outcome until the end of the journey.
Looking back, I find it easy to remember happier days;
There was laughter and love and fun;
Just sadly, not enough.
A thimble of water in an ocean of tears.
Tears that I drowned in,
Became lost within,
And prayed would stop,
Or never wanted to end.
Now’s the time to start the next chapter.

| Great poem. I would have to say that "sorry" is the second hardest word to say next to "I love you" for the first time. Hopefully though, you will be better.... |
