I'm slowly turning,
changing into a hermit.
The hermit who stays home
night after night,
pushing away company
and diving deep
into my shell.
My fears and anxieties
scatter through my head,
confusing and frightening-
they are what turns me.
I can barely take it,
I'm becoming a recluse,
isolating myself
from the world.
Isolation, seclusion,
they are the last things
I'd ever want.
They just leave me
stranded by myself, alone,
loneliness is what I fear.
A fear, one of many,
is what keeps me here-
drives me into my shell,
makes me unsociable.
I want to leave,
see new things,
meet new people,
but this shell
won't let me go.
It sticks to me,
steals my air, suffocates me,
weighs me down.
It is trying to kill me,
trying to attach to my skin-
become permanent.
I need to break it,
crush it, grind it
into nothing.
I can't be alone,
I can't live in fear,
I can't be a hermit-
help me escape my shell.

I understand very well your poem.
Fear is only 2 % the other 98% is in our mind.This has helped me to overcome fear.

Only you can break that shell that encompasses you. Try smiling then laughing at your problems then write your problems down on paper. Compare them to some-one that is blind, deaf or dumb and many that are seriously ill it will help you to break that shell.
