eyes closed, wide awake
time reflecting on my mistakes
tearing apart, below and above
these are the moments we fall in love

not when together laughing in arms
not on the phone or riding in cars
but when there is fear of a lack of return
these are the moments our stomach will churn

perhaps misinterpret what the other would say
or maybe a message not read right away
time spent wondering and wishing we knew
praying to god that you love me too
