The Cancer Spread

Contributed by djs on Friday, 1st February 2008 @ 12:22:10 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

the cancer spread
and took her away
leaving me in silence
alone and afraid
with nothing to hold,
but our memories
i'm trying to be strong,
but it's not easy
for she was my strength
my life, my love
everything i wanted
a gift from above
i still feel her next to me
i still smell her perfume
i still expect her to be there,
when i walk into our room
but instead i find emptiness
just shadows and dust
i can't move forward
yet they say i must
watching the sunset
just isn't the same
the numbness consumed me
buried in pain
her laughter still echoes
within these lonely walls
clutching my phone
i wait for her call
but it never rings
and it never will
i loved her then
and i love her still

Very sad but also a heartfelt poem. A good write. I'm sorry for your unfortunate loss. May you heal in time.
