Topic: Suicide

My thoughts flood me, I can barely write,
About one cold and tragic January night,
One year later I am still in disbelief,
One year later I am still seeking relief.

From the painful truth that is suicide,
In the darkest caves of sorrow I hide,
One year later I am still wondering why,
One year later I am still going to cry.

About the depressing loss of life,
And the unimaginable inner strife,
One year later I am still thinking deep,
One year later I am still feeling cheap.

When I think about the television’s glow,
Bathing him while his heart began to slow,
One year later I am still filled with anger,
One year later I am still feeling languor.

While imagining his very last breathe,
Before he was brought unto his death,
One year later I am still with regret,
One year later I am still in debt.

To him for all the beautiful memories,
That he left behind and I hope he sees,
One year later his light is not dim,
One year later I am still missing him.

Thank you for this poem. I Googled my son's name again (like I do every few months) and was surprised to find something from 2003 that I had never seen before. That was a real treat. I posted it on his blog guestbook (I hope you don't mind). The address is: www.wastedpotential.blogspot.com then click the guestbook. My email address is zplinte@hotmail.com. Take care Contralogicus.
