We Are Always Learning, An Ode To Lexi

In the early months of the year
A babe was born, Beautiful and fair
Her farther firm but gentle with long dark hair
Her mother calm and soothing and full of cheer
In the early mounths of the year

On that warm sumers night
She entered the world without a fright
A rude awakening and strange bright lights
A brave new world with no great plight
On that warm sumers night

Now shes with us all day long
And people visit with gift and song
And still she is calm despite the Throng
And everyone loves her and nothings wrong
Now shes with us all day long

Days go by and still we learn
Such a beautiful girl who gives no great concern
A babe born into our land of the mighty silver fern
Through the night will she sleep without a toss or turn
Days go by and we will always learn

I can still remember my daughter being born 23 years ago ..... I remember everything about that day and everything about her thru the years as I watched her change and grow. I would watch her sleep and silently think..... enjoy these days my child for one day you'll miss them. No worries, no concerns just looking for her next nourishment, a familiar voice and the safety of loving arms. I wonder if she'll think the same of her child? This was really nice writing ...you made me think and that's what poetry should do.....!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
