my hometown

Walking these streets of my hometown,
past the dingy council houses and
over packets of crisps and crushed coke cans.
Integral parts that make up my hometown.
When the night comes, local shops
become our youngsters' hang-out spots.
shouting and breaking phone-box windows,
causing uproar until the police come down.
Integral parts that make up my hometown.
During daytime the town centre
is chock-a-block with senior citizens
moaning about anything and everything,
in general just being a bloody nuisance
One integral part of my hometown.
The girls in my hometown, they lack self-respect,
giving themselves away without a care in the world.
Teenage pregnancy leads to little boys and girls.
Gone now are their hopes and dreams,
they're too busy answering baby screams.
These integral parts make up every hometown.

knight,
Sad, isn't it? One would have to be blind not to know something is wrong...something is dreadfully wrong. Anymore, hometown simply means a place where the dysfunction is familiar. Don't close your eyes. Observe, ask, and think.
