I'm twenty-one but I still act like a kid
Like I'm seven or fourteen
And I wonder if I was wiser at that age
Because I say I'm sorry every single day
Every hour and second I'm apologetic
And I'll say I'm sorry and then argue about it later
And I'm sorry and I'm sorry and I'm sorry and I'm sorry still
And if I could say I'll do better I would
And I just know that I won't because of my will.
I can only pray
Pray that you'd love me anyway
Order forgiveness with a side of sympathy.
Demand YOUR grace and YOUR amnesty.
And ask for some hope
In the effort that you might blanket my fear with your love.
I guess what I'm asking for is some punishment
So that I can be free from my guilt.
I guess what I'm asking for is some correction
That I might know you're still paying some attention down here.
I'm no Job, and I complain my fair share,
More than my fair share, really.
Maybe more than I deserve to complain.
I guess what I'm saying is that I love you and I need you and I'm sorry for all I do
And all I'm seeking is some confirmation that
You love me too.
