High Hopes

Contributed by jyssvw on Saturday, 12th January 2008 @ 05:37:59 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Because we are so far apart
In mind, body and spirit
You can never truly know
What I cant explain
If you were closer, somehow,
Kept forever entertained
In my arms
In you I shall remain

I cant be honest
When you hold so much back
Openness-
Precedes this emotional attack
If I let it loose
I have entered your cunning trap
When you let go
I come running right back
Saying too much
Or a lack there of
Once was lit
Now fades to black

I wish I could reveal
The intimacy I feel
A bond that connects
Many souls to protect
A heart from escaping
The cavity of my chest
My thoughts evading
What I would never expect
The words come out
But they make no sense
I may inject
Some truth
With lies
Lets see what we get

A double standard
Singularly I stand
Alone,
Grasping my own cold hand
Clutching my face
In public despair
Pulling at roots
From the scalp, to the hair
Hands in the air
I have given up
I can no longer care
Reaching for lips
That are not really there
While knowing its my own fear,
Killing me
I am well aware
I am well aware

Eyes bloodshot
My mouth dirty dry
A stomach empty
Rotten apple pie
I will not deny
All I have said in the past
The only lie
Was this time wasted so fast
So there-
My alibi
Is effectively surpassed
By my own ingenuity
Carving out this perfect mess
