Letting Go

I’m letting go of this love so forbidden
For I know it was never meant to be.
And since our feelings must always be hidden
This is no longer what I want for me.
We should never have let this thing get started
Rather run from an attraction so strong.
Why am I the one left so brokenhearted
Is this my payment for what I've done wrong?
When we met, my life felt so very lonely
But you wooed me and soothed my aching heart.
I thought now I had found my one and only
Yet felt lost whenever we were apart.
I never asked for more than could be given
For I knew they meant more to you than me.
Why did I think that this was really living
When it hurt my entire family?
Too many years have been spent self-denying
And now finding the right one might hard.
But I can no more continue this lying
When my desire is to serve the Lord.
We’ve always known this affair needed ending
But our hearts always guided the wrong way.
Now I pray this bruised heart God is mending
As I learn to trust in Him more every day.

The more of your work I read the more I realize deep down we have a lot in common. Again I can empathise with every word. Great reading it.
