The nature of the new year...

No early cries disturbed their snowy halls,
That pass through houses, under trees,
All that joins their fingers running over walls,
The chilled penumbras of the breeze,
Such naked miles can only follow,
As does sleep and aching heads,
An evening celebration and a wallow,
The new year rises, yesterday is dead,
Along the cusp of wake and sleep.
Through sunless windows leering evermore,
Upon the cheerless drifters and the street,
Whose hearts felt hope, just the night before,
In public houses filled with smoke,
The centre of their little world…
Renouncing idols and holding every answer in a joke,
Till every thought of yesteryear is hurled,
But as this Earth in solace spins,
And shadowed streets of frost begin to wake,
They realise, no matter how there nights may sing,
There vision of tomorrow starts to break,
Imaginary months may usher years,
As humans skim the skin of life then fall,
But buried deep inside their hopeful cheers,
The knowledge, that there’ll be no change at all…

Damn zenith! A rather sobering look at the New Year, I must say.
'Tis a bit of a let down, yes, the day after. BUT, we should all remember, it is easy to
decide change is needed. It is much harder to instigate that change. Whether we're
speaking personally, nationally or globally.
Cheers to you for a wonderful, prosperous, fun and ARTISTIC new year. =)
Great post!!
(missed your work)
