Ventriloquistic Heart

Ventriloquistic Heart

My heart throws its voice
into my head
and gives me cause
to wonder ~

...

If I manage to control it
is it weak? Or…
Does its strength lie, simply
In that it lets me?

Does it make me listen
to its whispers? Or…
Does the world fall silent
that it might be heard?

It tends to stray away
from ever shouting,
though known to change
its tone a time or two.

When it does, I’m forced
to reconsider
what course of action
I’m meant to pursue.

...

My heart throws its voice
into my head
and gives me cause
to wonder ~

what if...

...

it stopped

An incredible piece and reflective of how that inner voice can often be heard or not and yes what if it ever stopped....wonderful words I shall ponder indeed.

Absolutely. All the time!
And if it stopped what would we be but passionless, emotionless and ruled by logic. The voice of the heart is anything but straightforward, and it is how we listen to it that can make us who we are.
This is a beautiful and focused write with a pared-down feel that takes you straight to the heart (pardon the pun!) of the matter.

Take care,
Dom
