after working in
the yard
this morning,
my hands smell like tomatoes…
they smell like grass…
they smell like dirt
and weeds…
they smell like
an old rubber garden hose…
they smell like mulch
and sweat
and gasoline…
they smell like
my father…
and his father…
and his.
