Perfect Christmas

Slowly slowy Christmas comes
I irratate, when I tell my chums
For God's sake Girl its only June!
I warn them all T'will be here soon!
Slowly slowly the months go past
Suddenly it's here at last
Oh what fun, what cheer there'll be
"Christmas time"....... I sigh with glee
Christmas Eve ? the spirits low
To the local bar we go
Where are the hats? the smiles? Goodwill?
I look around and as time stood still
I remember if t'were Yesterday
I hear my friends my family Say.....
"Merry Christmas Love you lots"
It seems today mankind forgot
Where is the spirit? the warmth the glow?
The one we ALL least ONCE did know?
Is getting to the shops on time.....
More important now? oh such a crime
Where is goodwill ? much merriment?
The Gift from God , Heaven sent?
Surely skates and dolls and all can't be
The only gifts we wish to see?
My gift this year, the best I've had
Time with my family, 3 fine lads
MY partner too sat by my side
Tears of joy, I secretly cry......
My heart filled with warmth,and love heartfelt
I gaze around my heart doth melt
THIS is the gift that I did choose
One I never wish to ever lose
Take away the material... be it silver, or gold
You can never replace loved ones...close in your arms to hold
To tell them of the love you feel for them so dear
Not only at this time throught each and every year
Santa heard MY Christmas wish, tho simple some may say
I wished for health and happiness and those I love close come Christmas Day
Maybe I was just a good girl then? to get my dream come true?
I'm well and truly Thankful and I wish the same to all of you!
Happy Christmas and Happy 2008 to you all xxx

| I had a very sweet Christmas with my family. I believe this year really taught me what matters most. Although we exchanged gifts, we didn't become trapped in material things. Our greatest gift was the love we shared with each other. I think your poem has a nice message. |
