Riding fires...
lighting fighters in the doldrums.
The constant leaping of hate
on the walls,
it was smoke that animated
punches; traced wisecracked kicks
in carbon-dioxide stress.
The furnace was burning our happiness,
and we begged for more gasoline paintings.
Mildew floor cracks drowned in flames,
on the surface, that was our cue to leave.
Vanish like vapor trails.
But, in the burning fleshholds of the night
it was two Gods in ritual.
Two bulked pieces of dermis
competing for a chance to
live without the third degree.
