Faith In A Compass?

Contributed by Alex23 on Tuesday, 18th December 2007 @ 09:50:07 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

Here in the country land, the green light never moves.
Always on the tip of the horizon, it shines like the watchtower.
The question is, asked by many before us, how can we reach it?
As we move forward, can coincidence eliminate it's power?

Here in the country land, we find ourselves searching for the right way.
Always hidden like a treasure, it will be lost only to be found.
The question is, one that will be asked by many ahead of us, where do we begin?
As we move forward, can determination and failure keep us bound?

Now that destination can only reveal, this mystery, my friends, remains most profound.

Alex23,

I like thinking poems. This poem of yours has a lot to respond to. It is the kind that reaches inside and touches little pockets of shared experience.

I found it interesting how you ended each verse with opposing concepts: coincidence, and determination. Then you culminate the whole spirit of the poem with the word destination, which is a form of the word, destiny. Some struggle, some search endlessly, and others just go with the flow. Either way, we mysteriously reach our destination. If man could just wrap his spirit around this simply profundity, there would be a whole lot less destructive behaviors.

I'm afraid I could respond for hours. I'll stop here, however.

Thanks for the stimulation.
