I will wait

Contributed by kaylab on Tuesday, 18th December 2007 @ 12:25:02 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

To the sad, and the shallow
To the wind, and the willow
To the heart, and the mind
To the love, thats so blind

I love you and always will
I’ll breath you in and see you in my dreams
I’ll remember your love, and the happieness that it brings

And as the flowers bloom, I’ll look to the horizon
In search for your shadow, and I will wait

To the sad, and the shallow
To the wind, and the willow
To the heart, and the mind
To the love, thats so blind,

I will wait...

kaylab,

This reminds me of so many of my earlier poems. Always waiting, hoping, dreaming of that special someone who would confirm within my heart that I was worth Loving. After two divorces and a whole lot of thinking, I discovered, for me anyway, all this yearning and desiring had its roots in the uncertainty of whether or not I was worth Loving. I didn't Love my Self unconditionally and so I was looking for someone else who would.

A basic principle has resulted: Whenever I write a poem declaring my Love for another, if I cannot wholeheartedly direct the spirit of the poem to my Self, I cannot rightly direct it towards another. Unconditional Love of ones Self is the pre-requisite for the Unconditional Love of any other. When a person Loves their Self Unconditionally, they have no need of any other; they are freed to simply want the other. To feel like one needs another is an open invitation for disappointment to enter the relationship. No one is capable of meeting the needs of another. Sooner or later, failure will be experienced, and the relationship will be compromised. Needs must be satisfied internally. Wants can be satisfied externally.

In the late eighties I wrote a peom, You; it was posted November 10, 2005. The meaning of the poem went through a metamorphosis. First, I thought God would be the one who would complete me. Though God stayed with me through it all, God let it be known, It wasn't going to step in and do my work for me. Then I thought I had found a woman who would complete me. I fell madly in love, but disappointment suffocated that relationship. I have finally come to realize, all I needed to complete me was within me; Jesus said, the Kingdom of Heaven is within your heart; completion is within and not without.

Anyway, your poem stirred up all those memories. Life is a process, a growing, a becoming. I'm still becoming whatever it is I will be...

Enough said; probably too much said!

blessings,

ron...enigma
