In obliquity

Fear remains. Imperfect night, the stars are without you, they beckon you to know them, and wait eagerly your arrival, so that they might shed their light upon you, and watch for you in their hour of need, that in you their fear will come relinquished, and they will weep with passion and rejoice, forgiven—Imperfect night, appease them!
Elisabeth laughed. I wanted to touch her, but as the voice of her elation hushed, the mingled smoke of dreams and kisses, long unaware of the disease that held captive her hope, came fully to my understanding the struggle of her strength to stand tall amidst the terror of dying dreams and desires, coming fully to understand the duplicity of her laughter.
I have considered the future—infernal dreams of failing hands cursed to carve the mountains land forever—and the errors of my past drink my thoughts forever.

I wish I had something a little more interesting to say about such a great poem, but really all I can say is that I really enjoyed it. It kept me interested. |
