Inner Battle

The bitter battle is raging. Standing in Limbo, I fight to clear
the incessant fog from before my eyes. Both sides gripping
my hands, tempting me to turn ever so slightly to either
side.

Glancing to my right, the side I know I want. Slightly touching
my fingertips, but has the strongest force of all. Beckoning
to me with the sweet voice of eternity; I long to join.
His soothing song envelopes me and I am enthralled
with him. It is I who is reaching for him so strongly,
and I see him reaching, too, crying for me to break free from
my captivity. My lust is overwhelming.

Turning to my left, I see all that I have known. His firm
grasp says so much. Refusing to set me free, I struggle for release.
And yet, he is my Siren who sings in perpetual
seduction that keeps escape unattainable. Fear keeps me here.

My eyelids close from the weight of my world and I want nothing
but to be free. But in finding the key to these unbreakable
chains, am I to survive the Battlefield alone? It seems
neverending. I know what I must do. The fog sweeps over
me again; its weight is suffocating. I turn one last time
to face my loving eternity and
I cry.
