Straitjacket Fever

I pour myself the rest of the bottle
Tap my fingers on the icy counter
Sing with the rain outside my door
Like taking the pills I find on my floor
My heart pounds like a vengeful hammer
While words in my throat I continue to stammer
Black rain beats down atop of my head
Jagged glass cutting the heartstrings thread
Poisonous liquid running down my lips
As I grow weak and unsteady in my hips
Shaking and throbbing while holding my throat
The air merely around you causing me to choke
Pieces of my heart falling from my chest
Thieves in the night snatching my best
No breath left in this body of mine
My world spins as I run out of time
Stumbling the tight rope of care and apathy
Ignorance or knowledge of what is happening
Although hope deteriorates, I remain a believer
Suffering through this straitjacket fever.
