Ode To A Hole

I found a hole.
Whilst on my way to elsewhere I came across a hole
Not a remarkable hole, as holes
tend not to be, but neither common nor
mundane though.
But be that as it may remain you see, I'm not here to extol, a hole.
As admirable as any hole may be, its depth is wholly in its role.
I pondered well a profound emptiness,
Un unique and cryptic in a manner content-less
And I wondered how it came to be and who might have left it there.
While many might just walk past it carefully while I, am want to stare.
It seems much the same from either view but still,... it draws one in,
To study its empty edginess and to decide just where it begins.
A study of empty depth and meaning can be found in just a hole.
Rather than worry needlessly, where might go their soul.
I went then about my business giving holes not another thought.
Spending much ado on trivial things and incidentals I had bought.
Returning then the way I'd went I came across... a mound!
Some one had filled in the hole, a lesson quite profound.
If you leave nothing in a hole the absence is not by chance.
Someone surely will come by and treat it casually askance.,

I read this with a smirk on my face. The way it is written, the flow of it, give it an almost playful quality....
But I love that there is depth to it, and how it really makes you think that there can be more than superficial existence in everything. |
