This Day is Bright

Contributed by Chamaron on Friday, 7th December 2007 @ 04:43:56 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Lowering standards,
Senses as commanders,
Lives we don’t understand,
Shortcuts come by demand.

What’s right doesn’t feel it,
The heavens have concealed it.
Where do our eyes wander,
What mystery our minds ponder.

Space below equals reserved,
Conditions innocents haven’t deserved,
Connection proclaimed broken,
Hurtful words instead spoken.

Distance maintained,
Morals locked away, detained.
Alone unable to live with reflection,
Speaking emotions without inflection.

What limits the box possesses
Fallen back as life progresses.
Beauty called ugly to improve,
Fake mistakes unable to remove.

Unpopular to seek to learn,
Love defined as without concern.
Without anything at all to hallow,
Our lives have been made shallow.

Little time to leave a memory,
Without hope, we turned sensory,
Feeling around in darkness for light,
Without seeing that this day is bright.

One of the most amazing "live in the moment' "don't take anything for granted" poems I have ever read. This is quite a work you have here. It says much more than those cliche quotes I have above. You define our world as past, present, above, below, and in a box. Yet no future is really mentioned. I feel this is because you seem to relay a thought that there is no future without making the present. Something we do little in true life, and this echoes loudly in your poem.

Amazing!
