Apprehensive Again

I hesitate to fall asleep
Staring at a half empty moon,
Feeling nervous because I know
That we’ll be seeing each other soon.
What will change this time?
Have I had that chance to grow?
Could I possibly be over it?
I pretend, but the answer’s no.
I’m reminded you’re with her now,
Yet you still keep me on that shelf,
Acting like it doesn’t faze you at all,
And still I do this to myself.
But when you make me feel close,
I think maybe there’s still something there,
But then morning rolls around,
And I see you just don’t care.
“This time will be different,” I’ll say
And pray we don’t get lost,
Maybe we can be actual friends?
But again the line is crossed.
This line has become too familiar,
For your liking and for mine,
“What she don’t know won’t kill her”
But it kills me every time.

| Well worded ... a very excellent write with rhyme, rhythm and powerful words ... I know just where you're coming from - knowing the right thing to do and doing it are two completely different things, but I hope you find the courage one day to weaken the control he has over you ... Jan |
