I pick up my morning paper,And see where some preacher man never got drunk in all his life ,And never said hell or damn. He never stayed out till the wee morning hours, or courted a blonde or brunette, But preached on the evils of night life hard booze and cigarettes. Cut off in his prime of life the headlines sadly say, He went to meet his maker he's passed the great white way. They'll bury him deep while a few friends weep,And the world moves on without a sigh,And the preacher man is forgotten soon even as you and I. So go on your way enjoying whats the use to complain or cry,Enjoy even the night life for tomorrow you might die.Our days and nights are numbered as are the hairs on our head, I know my time is coming , when I go I hope it's in the arms of red.

thomasmartinroberts,
Not offended in the least. The preacher man sounds a little pompous...prideful. It also sounds like he was afraid to live. I can understand where he was coming from and where he thought he was going, but from my mountain peak it seems he was a very small man living in a very small world and serving a very small god.
Good content and nice prose...

I am glad I found this write. You gave the reader much to think on in a short write. I too believe in grasping life and running with it it is to short not to.
