The last tear (never falls)

Contributed by wachumiri on Saturday, 1st December 2007 @ 06:16:19 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

How long?
How far?
Where is the peace?
Will all this turmoil
never cease?

Never
-Such an endless word
And only words
I can't express
defy it

I want
to hold you
safe, secure
But this my shackle,
Time

Bound by laws
that never change
written deep
And deeper still
than simple words

My dearest friend
My closest one
My confidant
You are my soul
there written is your name

But to unearth
this treasure
precious beauty
not yet Time

And Time again
now makes a stand
and writes upon the sand

We were
too close to part
so suddenly
so swift
Hearts do not bend-
they break

To slumber, Soul
To sleep, my Heart
To gain prospective
from our dreams

To raise our eyes,
our hearts,
to see

Fathom Time
measure pain
With what?

Tears do not have
a scale, a weight
Though first indeed
was heaviest
the second more
and even so the third
and weight increased
with each that fell
but never done
the last tear never falls

Patience lurks
and battles fear
and loneliness
and dread

all that was never said

So beautiful
the madness
life
So speechless
Oh, my Soul

Sweet air
sweet breeze
bring unto me
the scent of spring

Rebirth
new love
and trust again
and love
undying
like the last
the brightest rose
that winter slew

And will this last?
Will fruit be born?
Instead of pain
and ashes torn?

I ask how many times
how many can
the Phoenix be reborn
A feather lost
each time love falls
can it
can I
survive
this life?

Rekindle fire
resurface heart
be born of hope
that never dies
be born of love
again

I've never fought
my heart so much
my mind
my everything
and all that's lost
is me

But sands of Time
must find a shore
a solace sweet
where there she meets
my Sea
my Mentor
Sanity
my Verse
my Rhyme
my me

And Time will meet
me on that beach

As waves
as tides
wash out
erase
the me I never was

And as I walk
I write on sand
the words I find
inside this ghost
the me I really am

and as I walk
I dream
I pray
I wish
I know
that Time will cross
my path with yours
Before the shedding
of the last
the feather
and the tear

I would like to say that this is one of your best writes in my opinion. I think I know, and can understand, how much this was hurting you, and I think that the emotions you push into your words makes this a great write. People tell me I am a good emotional poet, but you floor me. I can read your words and really feel, whereas I write mine to stop feeling. That makes your writing so much more powerful, more real, than mine could ever be.

You're a good poet, David.

There is a lot of truth in this, a lot that people, that I, can relate to, but out of all of it, there was a tiny bit that caught my eye most of all:

Hearts do not bend-
they break

There is more truth in that, than in anything else I know.

Keep writing, my friend. Never stop. And never stop feeling. The good, and the bad.

Just a side note, though... I hope that you are past this write, and that the feelings that drove you to write it, are gone now. (Because I know who you wrote it for)

Again, good write. I remember it from the first time you showed it to me.

Take care.

I love you, my friend.

David,
This was painful to read. It seemed almost drawn out, as this emotional ride you were on. Your amazing at expressing your feelings through your words. I have to admit, I've read this several times, the first I was too choked up to even leave a comment. I think of you and your sweet smile, and feel so sad that you feel this pain. Your a beautiful person, David, thanks for sharing this.
Much peace, love and hugs,
Your Missouri sis

Have read quite a few of your poems now, and keep coming back to this one ... it touches me in so many ways, I guess mainly because I relate so closely to the words ... I shed a few tears whilst reading this ...

There is no rhythm, a little rhyme, and yet its recklessness is what draws me in. The verse which intrigues me the most is your interpretation that tears do not have a scale, a weight - and yet as they fall they get heavier, and then the last tear never falls. How true, how true ...

I also love your last verse - praying that time will cross my path with yours before the shedding of the last ...

Thank you for prodding me to read poetry again, it has been a while ... I'm glad fate caused me to stumble across yours ...

Jan

this is so poignant and beautiful, to be able to feel like this, and express all of that!

If I were standing, surely, I would stagger. (Ok, maybe I am being overly dramatic, but...) What a wonderful read this was! I was lead to your page because my interest was piqued by some of your comments on other poetry.

I am so glad it was piqued! (That's a fun word!)

Anyway, loved your poem and when time and silence allows I will return to read many more of them.

I especially loved the lines:
I ask how many times
how many can
the Phoenix be reborn

In love, I have asked this question far too many timess for one life!

Thanks again for sharing such wonder with us!

Carol
