Why I Write

Contributed by xsitm on Friday, 30th November 2007 @ 05:49:12 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

I don’t write for any reason except to pass the time and seasons
And help this life fly by through enchanting words and mystic eyes
To hypnotize the darkness and hold on a second longer
So farther down the line this life might pass me by

Like when I sold my dreams for neon wings
And a life that’s free for finer things
A blood deal of sorts for a child’s birth
All paid in full with flesh and dirt
Leaving nothing left but a brownstone bed
And too much guilt to lift my head

But I was saved by the plague that spread since we began
The single point in time when choice could torture man
And now when it does, when life just hurts too much
I hold out a crooked hand
And call out to the child that’s falling into dust

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
