Silence Observed...

Didn't I do this already--
sit here crumpled
like a worn out piece
of paper, waiting
in this excrutiating stillness
for some Blake-like vision,
some eternal harmony
humming beneath the foundation
of life?
What is this sound--
that warriors cry
of silence
charging at incredible speed towards me?
I am free of thought, alive
but quiet, like dry flakes
of dead skin.
And as silence weighs upon me
will I hear something else break
through? The chorus,
a verse to become
the one we love to repeat--our favorite
one to sing to one another
when we're caught
in the quiet
together,
arriving in the same space,
wherever we are.
And if we give into it,
even if we are alone,
will we sing as if we are a part
of it and rise above, hovering
on the other side--here,
each suspended
like paintings hung in galleries
we haven't been
but wish to see?
