These Desires, These Fears
These are the desires of Mankind:
To know and be known,
to understand and be understood,
to accept and be accepted,
to Love and be Loved;
first by our Self,
and then others.
All endeavors
revolve
on the axis
of these
unsatisfied
desires.
These are the fears of Mankind:
To have lived life,
and in the end,
only have the knowledge,
that,
nobody knew us,
not even our Self;
that,
nobody understood us,
not even our Self;
that,
nobody accepted us,
least of all
our Self;
that,
we have never been Loved,
and,
that,
we have never Loved.
We are a desperate species driven by these desires and these fears.
