Tainted Memories

My life is like an unread book,
I want to read it but I stop myself.
I don't want anyone reading what is written on the pages,
I want to burn it so that my past stays a mystery.
My memories haunt me everyday,
The good and the bad.
I don't know what to do anymore,
Should I let someone open my book? Should I keep it closed?
These questions plague me every day,
I remember feeling free and not having to care.
But then I made mistakes, big and small.
I'm afraid that someone will find my skeletons,
I don't want them to ever come out.
They keep knocking on the door until it becomes a pounding in my head.
They will come out eventually but until then,
They will stay locked away as tainted memories.

The first step to defeating ones demons,
is to face them first yourself. Once you’ve
come to terms with them, it opens up the
possibility to share them with others. I hope
to hear you open the book, as mentioned in
the poem, and are able to finish the novel with a
happy ending. Great write! |
