Song for Don
I was lost and was lonely,
my heart sang the sadest song.
Believing solitude would own me –
that to her I would belong.
I was walking in a new world.
I was walking on my own.
But the softest footsteps joined mine
on the night you walked me home.
I wasn’t looking for a lover,
but you found me anyway
Now I long or your sweet kisses
every hour of every day.
When I saw you with the sunrise -
the gentle contours of your face.
I thanked God above for my life,
may it always stay this way.
You’re in my soul, you’re in my dreams
and every word I say is true.
You’ve repaired my heart’s torn seams.
Oh, my sweet one I love you.
I wasn’t lookng for a lover,
but you found me anyway
Now I long or your sweet kisses
every hour of every day.
It’s hard to end this Valentine’s verse
when there’s so much more to say,
but accept the gift of my words
and I will tell you every day – I love you
I love you.
