The Never Give Up Kid

Contributed by kiss4roq on Wednesday, 21st November 2007 @ 05:11:00 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

I was that kid.

The digging in the dirt,
For the sake of digging in the dirt kid.
The skinning my knee while running down a hill,
But picking the scab even when it hurt kid.

I was that kid.

The climb the tree to the highest perch,
Just to say that I could kid.
The fight and yell back at the bully,
When no one else would kid.

I was that kid.

The taking over the backyard,
To build a fort shack kid.
The smile to your face,
But talk behind your back kid.

I was that kid.

The never give up,
Because you always had friends kid.
The stick to what you believe in,
Until the very end kid.

I was that kid.

The give you advice,
That I would never follow kid.
The always be there for you,
Even when you were that shallow kid.

We were those kids.

Now I’m this girl.

The taken advantage of,
Even by the ones she loves girl.
The telling you to never give up,
Even when I myself can’t rise above girl.

Now I’m this girl.

The emotionally beaten and bruised,
By relationships and life girl.
The never going to be,
That perfect wife girl.

Now I’m this girl.

But I take it all in,
And just accept the plight,
I’m the one I once advised,
I’ve given up, without a fight

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
