The way things appear are never how they are.

You are my best friend,
the bones showing through my skin.
Bruised and ragged, and never enough.
An empty hand to hold, a quick fix for this cold.
Never enough to make us whole.
Ah, a lie. We're but two lost souls.
There is not enough warmth from one hand,
to make our battered egos relate.
There is not enough confidence left in our bodies,
to love, instead of hate.
One day we were friends, and the next we were not.
And I believe I've had enough.
But it's all that I've got..
