Lost

Where am I going, how am i going to get there, Do I know anybody there, is it hot or is it cold. How long will I be staying, is it heaven or Hell? Fire or clouds. Until I get there, I will never know cause all I see now is darkness cold, lonely, never-ending harsh darkness. I dont know which way to go, I want to leave, I am stuck, I cant find my way to my eternal resting place, any place is better than this. I am beginning to be aftaid, afraid that I will never find my way. I would rather feel the fiery Hot coals beneath my feet, and the razor sharp black whip across my back than to spend any more time here. Time, my Lord I forgot all about time, what time is it, how long has it been? How long will it be before I know? Could it be, Could this be the place that they had talked about...What was the name...I cant place the name, Wait was the name Purgatory. Yes that is the name, Purgatory. No it couldn't be, thats the place for lost souls, am I lost? Wait, what is that, in the distance I see a shape, Cant make it out, but I know its a shape of a Human being, Its getting closer, Wow maybe it is time, finally I will be able to be in the company of others. Have Conversations again, Eat food, Drink liquid, make love, or the best of all...just to be away from this never-ending Darkness. There he stood, a monstous sight. Will he speak? No he does not speak, my foot is yanked out from under me, I'm being dragged, I take it back this is not the end that I want, I take it back. Threw over the edge of something, now I'm falling, falling so much it seemed as never-ending as the Darkness, but no this was not the Darkness, this was more horrifying than anything I had every even thought of. Men screaming for it to end, while their flesh was being pulled from their bones. Others were burning, still alive, and burning. I could see the skin boil, turn to a blackish red, and then fall right off. Oh that smell, that is something I am never going to get over, the smell of blood, and Death. I just keep falling, seeing more and more of my up-coming future. Then I hit, I hit hard but I dont die. The fall that would kill any living thing did not kill me, no my fate is much worse than an instant death I asume. Then in the distance the tall dark creatures make their way toward me, Large long fingers, or are they knives, reaching for me. One grabs my arm, the other my leg. Their fingers cutting deep into my skin, then the horrifying feeling as they place me against the large hot stone. The stone itself causing more pain than I have ever endured, but when one of the creatures drove something through my arm pinning me to the stone, I felt it could not get worst then the other trusted another through my other shoulder. Crying now, wondering how had I lost my way, I wish I had done what was needed of me, what was wanted of me, but no, I had to do my own thing, I couldn't do for others, so look at me now, pinned to a burning red hot stone, staring down at this creature who is going to peel my flesh away from my bones, while I'm crying and pleading why, wishing it would end, Wondering How I Got So Lost...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
