Meteoric falls

Endless falls of icy stars,
Pulled by nightly hands into our sphere,
The spiring rapids woke the dark,
There trailing voices carried here,
Through the epic folds of night,
Whose rayless strata tore them into dust,
The ending of a Light year flight,
To meet with earth but not the crust,
That lucent salvo disappeared,
No wraith-like remnants drew my weary gaze,
Alone I’d watched them dissipate and seared,
In awe at imperious earth, protector of days,
Its blackened heights swirl without fear,
Of passing eyes that shoot like fire,
And watch us as they disappear,
The burnt out ends of something dire…

Hey zenith!
You know, I've always thought it a bit sad, the sight of a meteor shower.
Falling stars .. until they are nothing but cosmic dust, once wished
upon. (sad no?)
Excellent imagery here, as always. WAY too many wonderful lines
to pull any out on their own. Beautiful writing. =)
