Rise, My Inner Sun

My brain is bursting with thought
Though I can’t find the words to say
The inner sun is rising again
Bringing my soul back into day
When evening last came I was cold
My breath hung low in the air
All I could think about was time
I just sat on the couch and stared
The days went on like the beat of your heart
My hands grew shriveled and thin
My eyes died from the inside out
From miles of corruption and sin
But you came to my door and led me away
Into a star covered twilight sky
You told me about the things I could do
To gather the courage to fly
