Dreams for Sale

Contributed by twick on Sunday, 4th November 2007 @ 06:34:37 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

In the minds of dreamers
we feel lost and alone,
but in their hearts we find veins of gold.
Every day we mine those veins!

We use our picks to hollow out
their hearts
and they, the dreamers sit back
willingly
because that's who they are.

Yet as the days pass and
our dreamers weaken we
pick
up the pace
because we know it's too late.

The dreamers are dying,
their hearts hardened like
stone
and those veins of gold...
gone,
gone to market for purchase.

Holy heck! What a metaphor!! This was incredible writing. Wow. This
seemed to speak directly to me .. in a world where dreams and the
dreamers are less and less valued, (except when their dreams come
true), it becomes more and more difficult to function as an artist.

But beauty and all that surrounds it has to, just HAS to be worth it.
And this piece is living proof that art is as essential as air. The last
line delivered such an added sadness .. blends the piece so well.

Excellent write!

Brilliant poem, sometimes dreams are dashed but then you have to go on to your next dream, we need our dreams to go on. xx
